Almost 112mil cars without RTV just in this first quarter

55% of the cars passed in their first inspection.

Tourism section has the highest rate of approvals.

After the closing of the first quarter, RTV released the report about the Vehicular Technical Inspection in which people’s evasion stands out again. A total of 111.775 people; who were supposed to do their RTV during this first quarter, ended up without their inspection approved this may.

The vehicles that needed to officially do the inspection during these months were automobiles with license plates ending in 1 through 4 and public transport and hazardous materials transport with license plates ending in 1 through 4 and in 6 though 9.

From the vehicles that attended their inspection, 55% of them passed it in the first inspection. Besides, the tourism section had the most approvals in the first inspection (68%), while the semi trucks had the lowest rate of approvals (26%).

The most causes of rejection were:

  • Excessive polluting emissions.
  • Tire weathering.
  • Brake imbalance.

The most common slight faults during this period were:

  • Oil loss.
  • Transmission fluid leak.
  • Abnormal tire wear.

“Among the positive results, we can see that the approvals in the first inspection are high so far. However, the amount of cars without having their RTV approved is very high. It is imperative to take actions to control this evasion,” commented Jennifer Hidalgo, Chief of Communications and Social Responsibility of Riteve.

Currently, vehicles which license plates end in 5 and public transport and hazardous materials transport with license plates ending in 5 and 0 have to do their official vehicular inspection this month. It is important to remember that the vehicle technical inspection can be done one month previous to your official month according to your license plate number.

Also, Riteve offers the services of Voluntary Inspections that can be done at any moment of the year for an effective maintenance of vehicles or when a person wants to know the state of a used car before buying or selling it; as well as, after a crash or a complex repair. The cost is the same as the periodic inspection and the person needs to get an appointment by cellphone or computer in
